Tandoor n Handi
About This Spot
Stepping into Tandoor n Handi feels a bit like discovering a well-kept secret nestled within Scarborough’s vibrant Morningside Avenue. The pace is unhurried, a small, intimate space where the focus is clearly on the food and the warmth of a genuine welcome. With just a handful of tables inside, it invites visitors to pause, slow down, and savor the layers of flavor that seem to come straight from a beloved family kitchen.
The atmosphere carries a quiet sincerity rather than polished pretension. Here, the hum of conversation and the occasional clatter from the kitchen create a comforting backdrop, a reminder that meals can be as much about connection as they are about taste. Although it might take a moment to settle in due to limited seating, there’s a patient kindness in the way the staff attends to guests, making each visit feel like being invited into a friend’s home for an honest, meal-centered gathering.
As you explore the menu, you sense care in every dish — from the subtle cooling notes of mint and pineapple raitas that provide a gentle counterpoint to the more robust spices, to the tender folds of butter chicken and richly spiced handi preparations that hold a quiet depth. The appetizers, featuring time-honored street food favorites, offer a playful contrast, encouraging sharing and discovery across the table. It’s easy to imagine these flavors bridging cultures, finding comfort in familiar spices while inviting you to try something new.
In this cozy corner of Scarborough, the charm is not just in the dishes, but in the human moments woven through the experience: the host’s welcoming smile, the thoughtful preparation behind each plate, and the unspoken understanding that good food is as much about care as it is about ingredients. Tandoor n Handi might not boast grand décor or bustling crowds, but it stands as a heartfelt destination for those who value freshness, authenticity, and the warm rhythm of a neighborhood eatery that feels quietly alive.

It's a newly opened restaurant, you have to wait for some long time but their food is purely fresh and tastes as if it is cooked in our homes. For dining, they only have 2 tables as of now. The owner is also a welcoming person and provides a great service.

Tandoori momos and veg noodles were delicious! Not a fan of their decor and ambience, but the food quality and taste makes up for it.

Harsha and Param. Spot on hospitality and lovely food. Great taste and the lemon juice (Shikanji). Over the top. Must come to this gem of the place again.

The Food was amazing!! Especially their Butter Naan. Must try their butter naan.. u will never find this anywhere else. Their handi Paneer and the chicken were also tasty. However, the service was decent but not so good. We were the only ones to dine in but The wait time was so long. You can order food for take out but dine in not preferable. You can go there to try their tasty and fresh food but be ready to wait.

The dining experience was delightful. We ordered chhole bhature and dahi puri, both bursting with flavor. Punjabi girl at the cash, was good natured.

We went on my husband’s associate recommendation; ordered Mooli paratha and a dish of paneer with tava roti. Very authentic Punjabi food. I enjoyed the food. The lady at the reception, perhaps the owner was quite friendly and the restaurant was clean as well.
